Clearout Services

We created Cleveland Clearouts to reduce the profound stresses people typically experience when handling an estate clearout on their own. Our responsive, careful approach to clearout services ensures that you come through what would otherwise be an overwhelming process with ease and peace of mind.

We firmly believe we can find a home for most of the belongings in your home when you need it cleared out, through selling, donating, and recycling. Sometimes we need dumpster for stuff that has seen better days. We are able to make these determinations efficiently, then see each process through to provide the best value to you.

How do our clearout services work?

We designed our consultative process to make certain we understand your needs clearly. So the first thing we do is listen as we walk through the home together. As we’re getting to know you and your situation, we’ll ask questions to identify or clarify your goals and issues.

From there, we will develop a written proposal considering the size of the house and the labor needed for the work, so you’ll know all the costs and time frame up front.

Then it’s time to begin reviewing all your items:

“Keepers”

Our first priority is to understand what you want to keep. We will walk through the home with you to identify important items to set aside for you or family members.

Can we sell it?

Next we’ll identify which of the remaining unwanted objects may have resale value, and research their current market value.

  • Cleveland Clearouts will attempt to resell these items, and split the proceeds with you 50/50.
  • Any items we cannot sell we will donate on your behalf.

Can it be reused or donated?

Next we’ll identify any furniture and belongings that don’t have decent resale value but are in good enough condition to donate for reuse. We are connected to a variety of local charities such as the Gathering Place, Habitat for Humanity Resale, and NCJW Thriftique, that take donations of this nature.

  • For larger items like furniture, we coordinate with the agencies for pick up.
  • For smaller donatable items like clothing, glassware and tableware, we will transport them to the receiving organizations ourselves.
  • We will make all donations on behalf of the customer / in your names, and we will provide you with the donation receipts.

If you prefer to try and sell items yourself instead of having us donate them, we can connect you with secondhand markets.

Does it just need to go?

Some items have simply outlived their usefulness. Rest assured, we’re responsible about how we dispose of these items, too.

Recyling:

  • If we find items or materials that are worn out or in disrepair and can’t be reused, we first sort them for recycling in order to reduce the environmental impact of the clearout process.
    • Examples of items that we can probably recycle: time-worn clothes, linens, and other textiles; chipped kitchenware; paper; metal objects like rusted tools or bicycle parts; some appliances.
  • Cleveland Clearouts will make arrangements for pick up, or we will transport items ourselves to the appropriate recycler.

Disposal:

Only as a last resort do we need to throw something out. Even here, we adhere to the highest environmental standards we can.

  • If a dumpster becomes necessary, we will arrange for one to be delivered to the home, and we’ll coordinate with the dumpster provider for pickup. Multiple dumpsters may be necessary depending on the volume of material to be disposed of.
  • We will provide any additional workers necessary to clear out remaining items and place them in the dumpster for disposal.
  • Items that cannot be dumped and must be disposed of in another way include (but are not limited to): Paints, Oils, Solvents, Gasoline/Fuel, Asbestos, Biomedical Waste, and Hazardous Waste. We will talk with you about handling proper disposal if needed.

Final Cleaning

After all belongings have been removed, our team will broom-sweep and mop the home before leaving the premises.

How much will it cost?

When you consider the cost of your own time, travel, knowledge and resource acquisition (to be able to complete a clearout yourself), aggravation, and emotional stress, it makes a lot of sense to think about handing off this huge task to a clearout services team that already has the resources – and none of the complications that come with the personal side of the process.

Because each home is different, each clearout is different.

We don’t have a one-price-fits-all solution. Rather, we base our pricing on your specific needs. When you contact us, we’ll arrange to come to the property with you. Once there, we’ll discern the particular combination of services required to take the best care of you and your belongings.

There’s no need for the stress.
